Slovakia, as a member of the European Union, finds itself at a crucial juncture where the adherence to the rule of law, protection of minorities, and the nuances of its foreign policy decisions require careful scrutiny. Recent developments within the country (in particular the September’s Parliamentary Elections) and its external engagements (a slow change in the course of strong support for Ukraine against Russian aggression, or changes of the foreign policy, that shall be “more sovereign” and targeting “all four cardinal directions”) have underscored the need for a comprehensive evaluation of its domestic practices and international orientations.
The EuroPolicy project arises in response to these critical challenges. With a commitment to upholding democratic values and promoting transparency, EuroPolicy seeks to address the identified gaps in the domestic and foreign policies of Slovakia.
The project objectives are divided into 2 parts, covering specifically 1) Slovak Domestic Agenda - Rule of Law and EU Compliance and 2) Slovakia's External Policies and Democratic Standards. By achieving the objectives, the EuroPolicy project aims to contribute to a more transparent, accountable, and democratic governance in Slovakia, while also fostering a nuanced understanding of the country's external relations and their impact on the European security.
The collaboration with EURACTIV Slovakia, as EuroPolicy main media partner, ensures a broad reach, making the project a cornerstone in fostering public awareness, encouraging informed debates, and influencing positive change within the country and its interactions on the European stage.
The project is being implemented from April to November 2024. Project activities are carried out in cooperation with the Prague Office of Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung.
