Feminist foreign policy is a concept that has already been adopted by several European countries, yet it is considered politically sensitive. The leader in feminist foreign policy, Sweden, claims that its attention is paid also due to its controversial name “feminist”, which ultimately introduces it to politicians, officials, and the population. However, a gender-balanced foreign policy is not only about the representation of women in diplomatic structures, but also about the application of clear, inclusive principles in the state’s activities. Nevertheless, both levels must be developed hand in hand.
– What are the specific obstacles of women – diplomats in trying to achieve leading roles and how can the diplomacy departments address them?
– Are the obstacles and their solutions different in Central Europe and beyond?
– What elements of a gender-balanced foreign policy have already been applied by CEE countries and where is a room for improvement?
