On the road from Madrid to Vilnius, NATO has been facing not only the changing world and security environment, but also its overall transformation, triggered by the most dangerous moment for Europe since World War II, Russian aggression in Ukraine. The “War in Ukraine and NATO’s Transformation” project aims to closely follow this unprecedented transformation, and through online communication and analytical activities directly contributing to the framework of NATO’s current agenda and number of its communication priorities.
The 2023 agenda of NATO will be in particular reflecting the war in Ukraine - the most dangerous moment for Europe since World War II. And as Slovakia directly neighbours the Russia’s aggressive activities, EuroPolicy intends to (A) monitor, (B) analyse and (C) inform the specific audience in the country about NATO's transformation, which it is undergoing due to the direct threat of Russia to Euro-Atlantic area’s security and to peace and stability. Offering innovative and engaging coverage, we plan to observe a triangle of such transformation: 1) an internal one, focusing on institutional elements of it; 2) an external one, observing changes in thinking about NATO, primarily in the Eastern border of the Transatlantic area; and 3) a forward-looking, aiming to evaluate the future role of NATO in Ukraine´s restoration. All these three angles´ reflection of the transatlantic bond´s importance during unprecedented times, shall be grouped under the “NATO UNITES” thematic cluster, although strongly incorporating elements, converging NATO's deterrence (NATO PROTECTS) and working with partners (NATO STRENGTHENS).
The project is being implemented from March to December 2023.
